Certification Information & QABA Credentialing

Certification Information

Please Read Carefully

It is important to understand the distinction between two separate things:

  1. The Mind Weavers Academy training programme — 40 hours of coursework plus 15 hours of supervised fieldwork, delivered by our faculty.
  2. The QABA ABAT credential — a separate, internationally recognised certification issued by the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA), which requires passing an independent, proctored examination and meeting QABA’s own eligibility and renewal requirements.

Completing the Mind Weavers Academy programme prepares participants to sit the QABA ABAT certification examination. It does not itself constitute the QABA credential — the credential is granted only by QABA, upon successful completion of their separate application, background-check and examination process.

QABA Credentialing

General Requirements

To qualify for the ABAT credential, candidates must:

  1. Meet QABA’s eligibility criteria — see QABA’s official eligibility page
  2. Complete fieldwork and supervision — 15 hours of supervised fieldwork, with 1 hour of supervision verified for every 10 hours of independent fieldwork
  3. Go through QABA’s credentialing process — obtain a supervisor recommendation, complete a criminal background check (or employer certification), pass the accredited ABAT examination (proctored by Examity), and agree to the QABA Code of Ethics
  4. Maintain certification — credentials are reviewed and approved by the QABA Board, listed on QABA’s public registry, and must be renewed every two years
